etching glass

okay, so i'm addicted to making things! i seriously LOVE trying out new things that i come across in blogland or see in stores or whatever. now i'm not good at thinking up stuff on my own, but i sure like to copy/follow tutorials. so i was super excited when my friend tara told me i could use my cricut to etch glass. i kind of thought she was crazy but decided to search the web to find out exactly what she was talking about. i sure was happy when i found out i could in fact use it to etch glass!

since personalized gifts are always more fun, i decided i had to try this for one of the bazillion showers/weddings i have this month. i wanted to put a name on the bottom of a pyrex dish to give to someone for their wedding shower. since it was going to be on the bottom i had to make the stencil in reverse which caused a problem since i have the original cricut (it doesn't have the flip button like the newer ones). but then the wheels started turning and i realized that if i put the contact paper facing down instead of up, the stencil would be in reverse. now it made sense in my head, but i still wasn't sure it would work.

to my surprise it did and i was able to create the personalized gift i was hoping for! who wouldn't love to get this for their wedding!?! i mean, when you take your dish to a carry-in you'll never loose it! :) now, i'm going to go and do it to MY pyrex dishes! :)
