{winner's circle: charleston, sc}

john managed to pull out another winner's circle win by opening up new accounts. this year it was in charleston and man was it hot! we flew out wednesday morning early. when we got there we explored king street which was loaded with shops and restaurants. in the evening john's boss, pat, took us out for a night out on the town. we had drinks and appetizers at 5 church and pavilion bar. on the ceiling at the church they hired someone to hand paint words on every inch of the ceiling. it took four months to complete. the pavilion bar had a great view of the bay. then we finished the night at the fleet landing which was on the bay.

we had great representation from the mishawaka branch.
on thursday we got a couples massage and enjoyed the spa. it was fantastic. then took an uber to folly beach. it was wonderful to relax and not chase kids. i got a lot of reading in on this vacation. that night we went to the welcome reception and kicked off the official start of winner's circle with the awards dinner.
friday morning we went kayaking. we were expecting a leisurely trip but it was not the case. ;) we got a workout in but had an enjoyable time. we ran into josh and randi. we met them on the vbi trip and always enjoy catching up.
after kayaking we went to the pool to relax. the pool was so pretty but i failed to take any pictures. below are some pictures from our hotel.
friday night we were bused to an old cigar factory for music and a dinner buffet. the building reminded me of coppes commons. after dinner john went to a cigar shop with steve and i went back to the hotel to relax and read.
saturday morning we went sailing. the heat index was 105°.  we were hot!  we were going to go on a tour but decided we wanted a nap. it was heavenly after being out in the heat all morning.
after our nap we decided to go to battery park and see some of the historical tributes around the bay. we got caught in the rain and i was wearing cheap flip flops that were really slippery. i managed to hurt my toe pretty badly. it was bleeding and it still is throbbing.
that night we went to cypress with the division. hands down, it was the best tuna i have ever eaten. it was delish!
we stopped at the cigar shop and john and troy had their celebratory stogie.
we flew out on sunday and unfortunately our flight was much longer than it should have been. there were storms in atlanta that prevented them from being able to refuel the plane. of course it started lightening after we were already boarded so we stayed in the plane for a good hour before taking off. then there were storms in south bend so we had to fly to detroit and come in from the north to avoid the storms. we were so glad to finally be off that plane! the kids were happy to see us and we were just as happy to see them. we were thankful for all the help we had from my sister, mom and shari. overall it was a great getaway.
