easton and graham have finally been promoted to big boys! they've been able to get in and out of their cribs for a long time but we just got around to making the switch to their toddler beds. they didn't have any trouble with the transition. i'm guessing it's because they've been free to come and go for so long that it's not new to them. i still see them climb over the tall sides from time to time-they enjoy climbing.
a few months ago trisha was telling me about a three day potty training method that she used with all three of her boys with great success. i tucked that little piece of knowledge away and knew i wanted to try it when it was time with the twins. i struggled potty training both greyson and kenna and have been dreading potty training the twins. i'm not one who encourages messes so i never just put them in underwear. of course when trisha sent me the ebook that is exactly what this three day method entailed. after reading the book i was hopeful-it did work for all her boys. i bought three packages of big boy underwear and looked at my calendar for three consecutive days that i didn't have anything planned. i realized that i had to do it this week or i couldn't until july. here are the boys showing off their big boy underwear on the first day. graham was yelling big booyyyy in this picture.
my sister was very gracious and helped me since she has tuesdays and thursdays off. greyson was at camp and my mom took kenna so we could really focus on training them with this intense method. we camped out in the kitchen so clean up would be easy and we'd be close to run to the bathroom. we went through LOTS of underwear and cleaned up LOTS of pee but by the afternoon they were telling us when they had to go, not every time but some of the time. i was feeling pretty good and just knew they'd master it in three days.
they woke up dry and i was amazed. i didn't sleep well because i was worried about them peeing all over. i was flying solo on day two and that proved to be much more challenging than i thought. it was difficult to watch both of them for their signs that they had to go. we had LOTS more accidents and they never told me they had to go. i was feeling frustrated and my positivity was going out the window. i definitely lost my cool a few times and felt like an awful parent. i had planned to go to a dance rehearsal but it was going so badly i knew i couldn't leave them with john by himself.
day three was better because jen was helping again. but it was more accidents and not a lot of telling us when they had to go. i was feeling awful as three days had now come and gone and they still weren't potty trained. the book did warn that if you had multiples it would probably take longer than three days but i wanted to be the exception. all patience was gone.
by friday we had cut the accidents down to four (until my parents had to watch them for a few hours and then it doubled) which was huge. we were getting somewhere. saturday we changed methods and started taking them every twenty minutes. this was working and they were going. here it is, six days later and graham is doing awesome. he's telling us every time (even number two). easton is doing pretty good but won't go poo even though he really needs to. we are accident free so far (it's still early but I really feel we are accomplishing this huge task). persistence is paying off! here's to hoping we really have big boys today! i keep telling them it would be the best birthday present ever!

WOW! That does seem intense, but good for you to go for it and try to get them trained quickly. Way to go boys! (and parents!!)
