{laundry room makeover}

my washing machine has been less than stellar. it's eaten several of my clothes, left black marks, holes, etc...of course, it was always on my clothes (did I already mention that?). it also has been extremely loud. of course, it was our fault at first because we didn't unpack it correctly and we didn't take some plastic pieces  off that we were supposed to. i guess neither john nor i got the memo that it's a good idea to read the manuals when buying new appliances. :/ BUT, even after we took them off it still could get quite loud.

after washing a load, i realized that it wasn't draining all the way or it wasn't spinning because the clothes were extremely wet. i put the hubby to work to see if he could fix it. while he wasn't able to fix it, he did discover all this treasure. almost all if it belongs to my eldest.  apparently good moms check pockets too. :/
we called a repair man and found out that it was going to cost $300 just for the parts and he thought there would be more repairs in the near future. he recommended we purchase a new washer. i secretly was so excited. i loathed my washing machine. remember the holes and black marks?

after much research, i decided to try a top loader without the agitator. i really hope i fall in love with it. a college acquaintance saw i was in need of a machine and she sent me an insider pass because she works at whirlpool/maytag. we saved quite a bit of money by using this discount!

so what does one do when getting a new washer and dryer? redo the laundry room of course. i painted one wall, painted the cabinet, took down the wire shelving, and made new floating shelves. I'm so happy with the way it turned out! somehow I failed to take a before pic, but it was nothing special. I don't have it completely decorated but this post has been in the works since august so I think it's time to get it finished!

now i'm in the mood to paint several rooms...up next, the master bedroom.
(john, i know you read this and this is my way of telling you plans are in the works! ;) ).

Love it! It looks great and I'm glad it worked out for you to get a new machine. Hope you are liking it better.
