we had a great weekend celebrating our country and our freedom! friday night we stayed at home instead of going to the lake with friends. we missed being there with everyone but the twins are not at a fun age. they are into everything and we constantly have to be on them. with one child, john and i could take turns so we still felt like we could socialize and enjoy the time with our friends; but with two, we always have one child and can't take turns. sometimes we get a sitter but that gets expensive really quickly and we don't want to overuse our family. we know it's just a season and wouldn't trade our situation for the world so we just make the most of our time together.
so friday night after the twins were in bed, we had a campfire complete with s'mores, sparklers, and some other fire works. my parents and toby also cane down.
saturday we went to the parade with my grandma, aunt, and cousin's family. the kids enjoyed it but it was pretty sad. it lasted maybe 10 minutes, which john thought was awesome. :) i couldn't believe the amount of candy the kids got for as little as it was. in the afternoon, andrea and michael came to the pond, and then we went to the bounce houses at the park and chatted with lots of people. kenna even made a new "best friend". ;)
we ended the day at my grandma's where we ate lots of food and watched the fire works. john stayed home with the twins for reasons mentioned above.
the fourth is one of my favorite holidays! we are grateful for the men and women who served and to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can be free!

You guys were really busy on the Fourth. Next year will be easier, I'm sure. Hopefully we can all spend it together again!
