soakin' it up-last week of summer

the kids and i headed down to indy to go to the indianapolis zoo with julie and carter.  julie has season passes so we were all able to get in for free.  we had great weather-it was overcast and perfect temperatures so we didn't get too hot.  the kids loved seeing all of the animals and were quite the troopers without naps.

greyson's personality showed while we were at the zoo.  he has a brave front but when it comes down to it, he's some what timid.  he had the opportunity to touch a shark. he did it, but it took the shark swimming by several times before he finally worked up the nerve to do it.

we watched the elephant bathing show.  when you are so close to an elephant you realize how big it really is!  we were able to touch the elephant after the show.  again, greyson was timid but finally did it.  i tried to get kenna to touch it, but she pulled her hand away and tried to get as far from the elephant as she could.  carter wouldn't touch it either! :)

we had a great day at the zoo! thanks julie for inviting us and spending the day with us!

john is on our church's building committee and they have been working on a project to remodel parts of our church.  we are starting very soon so DJ construction sent a survival package to all the members of the committee.  the hard hat was a huge hit in our house.  kenna and greyson (who thankfully has one of his own from my dad's work) have been wearing them all over the house!

i have been working with greyson to learn his letters and to write his name this summer.  we made some progress but we certainly did not get all 26 letters accomplished.  however, he can write his name with a little help on the S because he thinks it's hard. here he is practicing with shaving cream...he loved squishing the shaving cream and swooshing it around on the cookie sheet until i made him practice his letters...he's ALL boy!
we've had a blessed summer.  i am so thankful for a job where i can spend the summer months with my kiddos.
