monday morning we headed downtown to the arch. i never realized how much there is to do at the arch. you could easily spend a better part of the day there. unfortunately we didn't get to do everything because of kenna. she would not have lasted. we did get to explore the westward expansion museum while we waited to go up in the arch. john loved this as he is a history buff. the kids and i basically walked around and looked at the artifacts while john read all the "fun" facts from history.
we rode the "dryer" up to the top of the arch. it was so tiny and you were sitting very close. since the arch is curved, it doesn't go straight up, and you can hear and feel it leveling itself out. when we got to the top, it was pretty crowded up there. it was a clear day though so we could see for 25 miles. i never knew the arch is the highest man made structure-taller than the statue of liberty and the sear's tower. we were glad we went to the arch, but it was the least favorite thing we did while we were there.
that evening we went to another place to eat that anna suggested. i was really excited about this place because it was italian and i love italian food! i had looked it up online and it had great reviews and it was pretty busy for a weeknight. we had high expectations which sometimes can be really bad because neither of us were impressed. it was an expensive meal too and we threw away the leftovers (which there were tons because we didn't like it) before we even got back to the hotel.
while we were driving there i saw a trader joes. i turned around and asked greyson if he knew what was at trader joes. his eyes got really big and he shouted cookie butter! i've created a monster. :) after our not so fabulous meal we found a trader joes and stocked up on cookie butter and some other fun items that we can't get around here.
on tuesday we went to the children's museum called magic house. this place was awesome! it had soooo much for greyson and kenna. it was such a hot day so the place was packed. everyone was trying to escape the heat. they had a construction zone which was greyson's favorite thing...no surprise there. they also had a mechanic station and greyson knew exactly what to do. i was very impressed with this museum and would love to go back sometime. it was much better than the indy children's museum.
we started our drive home around 2pm. we stopped in indy to see my brother trent's house that he just closed on earlier that morning. it was great to let the kids run around and spend some time with toby and trent.
our trip to st. louis turned out to be lots of fun. i'm glad we took this time to create some memories and explore more of the u.s.
