flashback friday: snappin beans

today i taught greyson how to snap fresh beans from the garden. he enjoyed helping and was even telling me how to do it by the end. as we were sitting there snapping, memories flooded my mind of when i was younger. my grandparents always had a garden. my grandma would put on a long sleeved flannel shirt while she picked green beans. it didn't matter how hot it was, she always wore it because the leaves of the beans would make her itch. i can remember sitting at their kitchen table snapping mounds and mounds of beans with my grandpa. he would tell us funny stories and sometimes give us a quarter for helping. the days of snapping beans with my grandpa are no more, but i've got many years to look forward to snapping beans with my children and remembering those precious times with my grandparents.
