best three dollars i ever spent...

greyson has been having trouble staying in his toddler bed at night. he was getting up two to three times a night, leaving mommy feeling exhausted, frustrated, and just plan cranky! ;) i would have to hold him until he fell asleep again or lay beside his bed. once he would drift off into dreamland i would sneak out of his bedroom. sometimes i was successful and other times i was not. usually it was a good 45 minutes before i was back snugly in my own bed, only to be awakened again. i was sharing my battles with my second grade class and one of my girls said that when she was little she had the same problem so her mom put handles over the door knob so she couldn't get out. i thought it was a genius idea!

the first night we used them, he didn't wake up until 5:40ish, which normally i would have let him get in our bed anyway because john gets up at 6. however, i knew i couldn't go and get him when he was crying or else he would think i'd always do that. so i let him cry and when the silence fell, i went in. the past two nights he has not gotten up at all and in the morning i have found him laying in his bed talking to himself! this is such an improvement and i couldn't be more happy with the $3 dollar purchase. i was able to sleep in until 7:45 today! i can't remember the last time that has happened.

moral of the story...share problems with second graders and they will come up with a solution! and these door handle covers really work wonders for a good night's sleep!

I'm glad this is working out for you!! We used a crib tent with our old girls, and thankfully Amelia hasn't tried to climb out of bed yet...although we're pretty sure our days are numbered (she climbed out of the pack-n-play at my parents' last week!

Thanks for your comment on my blog! So glad you're enjoying the menu planning! I'm looking forward to looking back over what I've posted to get ideas for future months! It's so nice feeling prepared!!

Happy Mother's Day to you!

that's awesome jessica! we use a baby gate! i put it up as soon as i switched elijah to a toddler bed because i was afraid of him falling down the stairs. he always plays in his room in the mornings until we get him! it's so nice because even if he wakes up early on the weekend, we can still sleep in because he's happy and safe in his room! i'm glad you found a solution! now you'll be so much better rested! :) happy mother's day tomorrow!!!
