new year. new resolutions, for some.
i have not made any resolutions for the past few years simply because i know i'm setting myself up for failure. in prior years, i made resolutions because it was something people did. my heart was not in them. so i failed. sometimes miserably. sometimes not so badly.
so this new year, what is on my mind, on my heart? well, i'm not quite sure. i have been doing a lot of reading this Christmas break, which is somewhat unusual for me. the books that i have read have caused me to do a lot of thinking, a lot of searching, a lot of hoping for something more. i feel as though i'm not living my life to the fullest, making a big enough impact on this world. i'm living as an "Eve in Hiding." i want to be more real, more vulnerable, more giving, more loving, more open to what God has for me.
God says, "You will find me when you seek me with all your heart." i find this verse to be so real in my life right now. i am seeking, and i'm finding God in everything i do, in the people i'm surrounded by, and in my thoughts. Satan seems to be attacking my family in various ways, and it's God strength that is getting us through. He is our provider, our encourager, and our Savior. it is in Him that we are enough. God is doing a Good work among us...and i'm just excited to see how He works in me and in my family this year. with God leading, i will not fear!
what is God stirring in your heart? did you make any resolutions this new year?
these are the books that i've read and would recommend:
crazy love by francis chan...this book took me months and months to read. i just happened to finish it over break. talk about "ouch"...in a good way.
fearless by max lucado. in a time of so much uncertainty and attack against us, this was just what i needed to refocus my faith on God. i have nothing to be afraid of for God's hand is in it all.
captivating by john and stasi eldredge...i've read this book once or twice before. i was given this book by a great friend in college. the inscription that she wrote encouraged me to read it again. God desires to rescue my heart and release me to live as a fully alive and feminine woman...a captivating woman.
