we tried out a new to us campground at mississinewa state park. we got the last available campsite so i was a little worried it would be awful but it was fine. it was a little on the small side but the two sites next to us ended up being empty so we had plenty of space.
we loved walking to the reservoir and also to the open fields to play baseball.
it rained on sunday so loaded up in the truck and went to ivanhoes in upland. it was about an hour's drive but oh so worth it. it has over 100 different shakes and ice cream concoctions. i used to go there while in college and haven't been back since. everyone was a fan!
this was only the second time camping this season. we have two more trips scheduled and are looking forward to going again soon.
greyson is playing football again and loves it. he has been called a leader on his team by his coach. he plays center a lot and also a lineman. he's the one with the black helmet in the pictures. they ran out of large helmets so he has to wear a jv one. he's always had a big head! football is definitely his sport. he's a ball boy again for the high school team with jonah and trot. i can't wait till he's the one playing on friday nights under the lights.
i noticed easton was having trouble hearing this summer. he would be right beside me and repeat what he thought i was saying. it made for some funny conversations because it was never even close to what i said. for example one time i said, "graham, take off your stinky socks." easton said, "what about hot sauce?" i mentioned this at his well check in august and it lead us down the path of meeting with the ent doctor. he had very enlarged tonsils as well and was a snoring machine. the doctor felt it was best to put tubes in to drain the ears that were full of thick mucus and take out his tonsils and adenoids. we went through this exact same thing with graham a year ago so we knew what we were getting into. he was really scared but did a great job being brave. he has handled it well so far. we keep waiting for his rough days. the doctor said it will get worse before it gets better and it usually comes on the third or fourth day. today is day four and i stayed home with him and so far he's okay. his throat hurts, but it's not unbearable like it was for graham. he gets more upset when we have to put the ear drops in. we were reminded by the doctor that each child is different and sometimes the really bad day comes around day 7. so right now we are just taking it easy, eating lots of ice cream, and praying his rough day never comes.
