{jeep, college reunion, spoonful of imagination, and soccer}

so this summer i decided that i needed a jeep since we weren't finding a lake house.  i figured they didn't compare in cost so john would give in...and he did. ha! i looked and looked and looked.  we were too late on several or others had too many miles.  i finally found one in wabash that met most of my criteria.  i showed john and it just so happened we were kid free on this particular sunday afternoon so we jumped in the car and headed to wabash.  we took it for a test drive and we drove it home that day.  i absolutely love it, but it's stick which is a downfall for me. i hadn't driven stick for 20+ years so i had to relearn.  there was lots of frustration and even some tears.  i am much more confident but still mess up sometimes. it's so fun to drive though. i've always heard about "it's a jeep thing" and it's so real.  the jeep camaraderie is strong and all jeep owners wave when passing on the road.  

the very next day we traveled to anderson for our annual college reunion with all our kids.  we met on campus and had a picnic lunch.  we walked around reminiscing and seeing how it has changed in the last 20 years.

 the kids were enthralled with the mailboxes. they thought we should still know our box number and combination.  none of could to their disappointment. 

after walking around campus we went to mounds state park and went swimming in their pool.  it was a perfect way to cool off.  then we ended the day at dq eating blizzards.  it always fills my soul to spend time with my precious roommates from college. 

i've always enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking but don't take the time to do it much anymore.  i happened to see this hand lettering camp at spoonful of imagination in warsaw and decided i was going to go.  i put a plea out on fb to see if any of my friends wanted to go and shari did.  i was so excited.  it was a four day camp where we learned how to hand letter, we made a sign, did some water coloring, and some art journaling.  

the teacher had this quote on the board one night and i loved it.  i definitely need to take some more time to do the things i love.  

when the farmers panted some of the corn didn't make it in the field around our house.  we could see that there were large places  where corn wasn't growing.  once the corn was tall enough i took the kids out there.  they thought it was the coolest thing and wanted to take out their chairs and tables to make it a club house.  we never did, but they still had fun exploring. 

i loved my time at spoonful of imagination so much that i took the kids there during their open studio hours.  the kids thought it sounded lame (especially greyson) when i told them we were going.  however, he found out he was mistaken.  he was thinking it was an art museum to just look at art.  he enjoyed his time and so did everyone else.  we will definitely go back. 

kenna finished off her soccer season right before school started.  she loves soccer and loved that chloe was on her team. 

it was a good, good summer!
