{church camp and celebrations}

greyson went to YCL Ministries, our church camp again this year.  he stayed four nights and five days.  we were lucky that it fell during the same week we were in california so there was one less child for everyone to watch.  he had a great time and can't wait to go back next year! 

 

kenna also went to camp for the first time this year.  i had her go to tadpole camp, which was just one night.  if she went to the next camp it was for three nights and i didn't know how she would do.  she was not happy the minute we arrived because she noticed that the other kids were younger than her.  i tried to tell her that wasn't the case, but they were much shorter than her and i didn't do a good job of convincing her.  we were able to leave her without any problems though. i was thankful because i just wasn't sure what her reaction would be.  she had mixed feelings about camp because they didn't get to do some of the things she knew greyson got to do, like go on the water trampoline.  she tends to let one bad thing ruin an entire experience. :/ we are working on this with her because it's going to be a sad life if she keeps that mentality.  she has decided she wants to go next year, but definitely stay for three nights.  kenna chose to take twizzlers to camp with her as her snack.  it made me smile because i always took twizzlers.  my college roommate, who i randomly got paired with, remembered me from camp and remembered that i always had twizzlers.  

greyson and kenna had the opportunity to be in the 4th of july parade.  i didn't mention it to them because i didn't want to go, but then john said something to them.  of course they had to be in it.  it was so stinkin' hot.  thankfully this parade doesn't last long! kenna and the girls didn't stop walking when the parade was over.  they ended up close to ace! thankfully the coach went to pick them up in his cop car and brought them back.  kenna thought it was pretty cool to ride in a cop car.  it was funny to hear her talk about not knowing the parade was over.  all the girls just kept walking and walking! 

after the parade we went and set up the stand for the outreach our church does every year.  it falls under my committee so we've had to man it for the past few years.  we serve free hot dogs, pop, and popcorn.  john was roasting by the grill. the hot dogs were still a little frozen so he used them to cool off.  overall it was a fun day but i am always glad when it's over because it's a lot of work.
