every once in awhile i like to do a post that shows what life is like at the current stage i'm in. this is more for me than my faithful few readers. i remember when i found out i was having twins, another twin mama told me to take lots of pictures because i won't remember many of the details and events during these years. i thought that was silly... of course i'd remember. or so i thought. i already find it difficult to recall special times and i'm thankful i have many of the bigger things documented. so here goes a day in the life...
my day usually starts at 5:50 when john's alarm clock goes off. i lay in bed until he's out of the shower and then i get in. if I'm lucky i can be done before any children wake up, but usually someone, if not several of the children are awake. i wake up greyson so he can get showered and then he wakes up kenna when he's out of the shower. i hurry to get ready with my crew in my lap and or surrounding me most mornings.
breakfast is almost always ooo yogurt and a piece of toast and coffee. there's always coffee! ☕ thankfully greyson and kenna can get themselves ready and once my mom gets to our house we rush out the door, sometime between 7:20 and 7:30.
i spend my days with 27 third graders teaching reading, math, writing, social studies, science, word study, and lots of other important things, too. most days i enjoy my job but it is definitely challenging and exhausting at times. i teach with a great group of ladies. since greyson and kenna go to school with me, there is rarely a minute where i'm not with children.
after work i took kenna to gymnastics. she is very good and has improved a lot since she's started. she goes through phases where she loves it and also hates it. every week is pretty much the same thing so i think she gets a little bored but she always wants to sign up for the next round. i enjoy gymnastics because i have a chance to chat with other adults.

after gymnastics we head home and i start supper. meal times are always hairy at our house. i think it's too much to ask for all six of us to like whatever was made and someone ends up in tears. i wish i was exaggerating but it happens every. single. night. i'm exhausted after meal times and keep telling myself it's just a phase.
the kids help clear the table and they load/unload the dishwasher. many times easton and graham get in the cleaning action too! we think it's important for the kids to have responsibilities and we recently added this to their list. It's been great having the extra help and they do a good job. i do have to let go of having all the dishes stacked just so and sometimes i have to look for something a little longer when it doesn't get put in the right place, but overall it's been wonderful!
by the time we got everything cleaned up we had a little time before bed so we watched a vhs that we brought from my parent's house. we are watching old Disney movies that i used to watch when i was little and the kids are really enjoying them!
we start getting ready for bed around 7:30. our nightly routine consists of brushing teeth, reading, praying and some cuddling. it's usually 8:45ish before everyone is in bed and stays in bed. the twins are very challenging to get to sleep.
after everyone is in bed i get some quiet time! i usually read, facebook, or grade papers. on this particular day, i got to read! i just finished the last book of the harry potter series. it was sooo good and it's not my typical reading choice.
i finally crawled into bed at 10:45. it wasn't long though before i had a little one crawl in my bed. this generally happens 2 to 4 times a night. i' m pretty much tired all of the time but somehow continue to function... mostly. and that is a typical day for me!
