{big girl in the house}

when i was a little girl, my mom and dad let me get my ears pierced right before kindergarten. i decided that would be a good time for kenna to get hers done as well. however, she started showing an interest in getting her ears pierced so i seized the opportunity and told her she could earn them. she was potty trained with a few accidents here or there until the twins came along. she started waking up wet occasionally and then it turned into every morning. no matter what we bribed her with, or how we limited her liquid intake before bed, nothing worked.  so when she started asking if she could get her ears pierced, i was willing to give it a try.  thankfully it worked and she earned them last week but we couldn't go until saturday.  i warned her that it would hurt and that she would probably cry because i didn't want her to think it would be this wonderful experience and then be upset when she realized it hurt.  she assured me she would be brave and still wanted to get them done.  we went to newcomer's jewelry store in town.  they were so friendly and made a big deal about it.  i was so proud of her because she didn't even cry.  after they pierced them, she looked at me, jumped off the chair, gave me a hug, and just asked to go home. it definitely hurt but she was able to hold back the tears! :)

 

we have to clean them twice a day but it takes less than a minute and kenna has reminded me every time so far.  she is thrilled and i'm glad we decided to let her earn them early!

 

 

i was trying to get a picture of her before church and she wanted to show off all her other jewelry and hair accessory that she picked to wear too.  she is such a girly girl!
