{altered plans}

three weeks ago john and i decided to take the kids to indy for the weekend to see my brothers and to go to covington cove (indoor water park/hotel) since i have monday off for president's day.  we were all excited and couldn't wait to go.  kenna was tired and fell asleep minutes away from our house.  she slept most of the way-this is the best way to travel with a one year old! ;) greyson let us know how bored he was even though he had a bag of puzzles, trucks, netflix access, and snacks to keep him busy.

we went out to eat with the boys and then stayed friday night with them.  of course kenna, who sleeps through the night 99% of the time, woke up around 2 crying.  she was wide away until 4:30.  it was awful.  thankfully she finally crashed but her late night episode didn't make her sleep in. :(  saturday toby, greyson, and i went shopping to buy things for the house since trent had to work.  i thoroughly enjoyed spending someone else's money! john was having back issues so he stayed at the house with kenna. trent has a chalk wall so of course the kids had to leave their mark.

we left a little later than we wanted but finally arrived at the hotel.  i went in while john parked the car.  i was not prepared for what i saw-a line that was forever long (probably 40 families waiting to check-in).  i went to the end of the line and started hearing conversations about how their computers were down and how people had been waiting for 45 minute and only moved 15 feet.  i was not excited at the thought of entertaining greyson or kenna while we worked our way to the front of the line.  i also knew john was in a lot of pain and he wouldn't be thrilled of the wait either.  i filled john in on the situation and we decided to leave.  greyson was disappointed but handled it well.  we went to another hotel that had a pool and we went to chick-fil-a to let them play. they had fun and didn't know what they were missing out on.

kenna got a hold of greyson's goggles.  she thought she was big stuff!

greyson showed off some of his new swimming skills

not the weekend fun i had planned, but still fun nonetheless.  it's good to be home and i'm thankful i have tomorrow off!

What a great lesson in flexibility! Sounds like everyone handled it well and made the best of the situation. Hope John got some good news at the doctor about his back!
