our week in a nutshell

we've had another fantastic week of summer.  greyson started "school" and is learning his numbers, letters, sight words, Bible verses, and fine motor skills.  to my surprise, he actually likes it and asks to do it first thing in the morning.  kenna usually wants in on the action and will scribble on paper while greyson learns.  i hope his enthusiasm continues! we also started library this week.  greyson had fun and i look forward to the special time we get to spend together.

water seems to be a staple at our house.  the kids aren't happy unless they can be playing in or with water.  i saw a cute idea on pinterest where you take toys and put them in a container, fill it with water, and then put it in the freezer.  greyson had a blast using the hammer to get the toys out and kenna loved picking up the ice, throwing it, eating it, kicking it, etc.  this provided a good 45 minutes of play.  greyson is already asking to do it again.

i turned 30 this week! ahhh....it's crazy to think i've entered a new decade of life.  thankfully many of my friends are already there, so it doesn't seem so bad! ;) i have been working on my 30 things list and am giving myself the rest of summer to plug away at it.  i've completed 13 things and am close on 5 or 6 of them.  some of them, i have no desire to do anymore so i'll probably let those go.  hopefully by the time i go back to work i will have tackled the ones i still want to do.

greyson and kenna had a play date and picnic at the park with emerson and landon.  it was a great way to tire them out and  get them out of the house for a few hours.
i hosted a pinterest party last night.  i had a some people back out so it ended up being jess, alicia, and myself.  i was disappointed at first, because i was really looking forward to it, but it ended up being wonderful.  i had a bad couple of days and it was great to vent and just hang out with those two.  it all worked out.  i made john his father's day gift (i got my idea here).  jess made some awesome tile coasters, and alicia made an adorable headband holder to match emerson's bow holder.  i am so thankful for their friendships and the time we got to spend together.  here's my finished project.  i love it! :)

How fun to have school at home! I bet Greyson will pick that stuff up right away! I had such an incredible time connecting with you and Alicia! I really feel it was a God thing. I just appreciate the friendship we have and really feel blessed by it. The finished product looks INCREDIBLE!!!

What a cool idea to keep the kids busy on hot days. We might have to try that tomorrow! Welcome to the 30 club, it's really not so bad! :) I'm glad Greyson is enjoying learning and thanks for hosting the party. I really enjoyed it!!!
