some (more) summer fun

we've been trying to cram so much into the last full days of summer that i have neglected my blog. we've had play dates, trips to the fair, and some fun projects going on around the house (that will be a post all of it's own when they are completely finished and when i'm not to lazy to take pictures of them...ahm...like right now!), and i've been spending a lot of time getting my classroom ready.

one of my favorite things we've been doing a lot lately is going on "family walks" as greyson calls them. he rides his bike and john and i walk while pushing kenna in the stroller. it's a nice time to unwind and spend some time as a a family without any interruptions. he's checking out his shadow in this pic. john and greyson made no-bake cookies together. they were cooling and i found greyson licking one right off the wax paper. he apparently thought they were so good that he couldn't wait!
grace and tyler spent the night last weekend. the kids had so much fun together. they went four wheeling, fished, and ran around the yard together. grace is concentrating really hard on her bobber (is that how you spell that?). she caught a fish all by herself and was very proud! i, of course, was frantic because john made me get it off the hook. i convinced greyson to hold the fish while i only touched the hook and then greyson threw it back in the water. :) so that is why there isn't a picture of gracie and her fish. here's john and the boys. see the fish tyler caught? he actually caught the most fish that night. none of the kids wanted to stop, but it was bedtime! :)

the temps are finally starting to cool off, which is yet another sign summer is starting to dwindle. i do love the changing of the seasons, but i wouldn't be upset if summer lasted a little bit longer!
