as many of you know, i am not in any way, shape, or form musically inclined. it is difficult for me to clap on beat and sing at the same time, carrying a tune is next to impossible, and i have a hard time remembering words to songs unless someone else is singing or i'm listening to it being sung.
yes, it's true. i am not musically talented.
so being a mother has stretched me in the area of my musical ability. when greyson was a baby, i'd often sing to him. however, it was usually the same three songs over and over because i didn't know all the words to other songs. i recently discovered that it calms him immediately if i start singing one of those songs. so, the other morning, i was singing twinkle, twinkle to him as i was doing my hair because he wanted picked up and i couldn't hold him at that moment. greyson said, "jesus, jesus". at first, i didn't make the connection and kept singing twinkle, twinkle. finally it dawned on me that he wanted me to sing "jesus loves me".
these have to be the sweetest words that i have heard come from his mouth.
my heart melted and a sense of assurance came over me. there are many times i question if i'm doing the right things for greyson, or if i'll be a good mother. i wonder what kind of relationship we'll have as he grows older, etc., but on that day, it was like God was saying, "you are a good mother, you will do a great job raising my children i have given you, you are going to have a good relationship with him, just CALL upon me, and TRUST."
it was reassuring and made me very proud of my little boy. someday, God is going to do some amazing things with and through him. all i have to do is call upon His name and trust...

that is so encouraging Jessica! and how sweet that he requests songs from his mom! :) you ARE a great mom...i can tell because Greyson is always smiling and happy whenever i see him...so you must be doing something right! this was a really cool post, and it's something i think i needed to hear. i always am wondering if i'm doing the right things, too, but you're right...all we have to do is call upon Jesus and trust Him! :)

What a sweet boy that is obviously being raised by a great mother and father. God knew what he was doing when he chose you and John to be Greyson's parents. Thank you for sharing that great story!
What a sweet story that brought tears to my eyes! There's a whole new set of worries that comes with being a parent, but I know that you are doing your best and God will guide you to make the best choices for your family!
