a night away

sometimes john and i need a night away just to relax and enjoy each other. we had planned on taking a weekend over my spring break to celebrate our fifth year anniversary. we were going to keep it low key since we are finishing the basement. lucky for us, we got the opportunity for a night away sooner than we were planning. john had gotten tickets for one of his customers to go to a lady antebellum/tim mcgraw concert. the customer couldn't go because he had a catering job on the same night so john's boss said we could have the tickets. we took advantage of this and decided to make this our little get-away. aunt jenn watched greyson for us all day on saturday so we could go furniture shopping (i found some great stuff!!!) and my mom kept him overnight. after furniture shopping we headed up to grand rapids. we splurged and stayed in a nice hotel (i was like a little kid in a candy store with the fridge full of goodies. i had to touch everything and inspect it. after i did this, i found a sign that said anything you move or remove will immediately be charged to your account. i was a little nervous, since i DID touch and move just about everything i it. thankfully when we checked out nothing was added. i think they did that just to scare me...it worked!). we had a great time lounging around and exploring the city. the concert was great and the so were the seats! as i much as i enjoyed the concert, i enjoyed spending the whole day and night with john more. it was so refreshing and wonderful to do as we pleased without an agenda or a little one to chase around. as stressed out as i have been lately, this night away was just what i needed! i'm so thankful for unexpected blessings...they can even come in the form of concert tickets!

sorry for the poor quality of the pics. they wouldn't let me take my good camera in because it had a detachable lens. good thing i was prepared and had my old, needs updated really bad digital camera along too!)
