{christmas day 2017}

christmas morning is full of excitement! kenna was up at 5:40! we made her crawl in bed with us for a while, but by 6:30 everyone was up and ready to go.  the twins had a little help waking up from their big brother and it took them awhile to come out of that sleepy, drowsiness.  i always take a picture of the kids in their christmas pjs.  i actually got away with them wearing the same ones as last year. they all still fit! 

john read the christmas story.  i don't know if the kids are ever listening as they are anticipating their gifts, but it's a tradition john and i started on the first christmas we had as a married couple.

the kids made out pretty well this christmas.  i'm not sure why, becasue i'm usually pretty stingy with what they get. greyson got an xbox one, but he had to use some of his christmas money from others to pay for half.  i bought him a farming game to go with it and he's been pretty glued to it since christmas day! he also got his first bb gun, but john gave it to him earlier in the fall so he could use it before it got too cold.   

kenna has been asking for a hatchimal since last christmas.  they were the hot item last year and the price was double what it should have been.  she was thrilled to see she got it this year.  she played with it so much she got it to the last stage on the first day.  she also wanted a digital camera.  she loves taking pictures and has taken a lot over the last few days.  she was a happy camper!

the twins are obsessed with tools so when is saw this work bench that came with cars that you could take a part and fix i knew they would love it.  i didn't realize at the time that it's "smart workbench".  there's an app that you can download and it even has a place to put the tablet so they can follow directions on the app.  i haven't installed the app yet, and don't know if i will, but they are loving it.

santa was very good to john and me too.  john got an apple watch and i got diamond earrings and a new fancy coffee maker.  it brews both pots and k-cups.  i love it.  it was a fun christmas for everyone.  

i decided to try my hand at homemade cinnamon rolls. i don't know what got in to me, because i really don't like baking.  most likely because nothing ever turns out-ha! when i started making these, i realized i was almost out of salt and i didn't have enough yeast. i figured it was a sure fail but i decided to continue on since i had already started.  to my surprise they were great! they actually rose and were really good.  i decided to invite my parents and brother down since they turned out!

the rest of the day was low key and full of playing with our new toys.  we also went sledding and went back in the woods.  it was sooooo cold, so we didn't get to stay out too long but it was fun to have a white christmas-it's been quite awhile! 

my dad made this box so the "dirt" that they got would stay contained. they play with this dirt for hours!

 it's been a good holiday season.  God is so good to share his gifts with us.  merry christmas!!!
