{summer recap}

i've been on a blogging hiatus lately (for good reason but that will be a post of its own).  instead of trying to blog about everything in individual posts, I've decided to do a small bulleted post of our favorite moments from the summer.  unfortunately, there aren't many pictures, because I've also been really bad about taking pictures. 

june:

-we took advantage of our local library's summer program.  they always so a fabulous job and greyson seemed to enjoy it more this year. 

-we also continued swim lessons at sheperd's swim school throughout the summer.  greyson can now swim 25 feet on his own. 

-i had some work peeps over for a playdate.  we had lots of fun and the kids loved having other's over to swim. 

-we went to the second annual friend fest at amish acres.  we had a great time with friends and camped at playmore for the weekend.  the music and worship were awesome!

-happy father's day!

-john, matt, amos, jamie, and bart took all the boys to the canoe sites and camped for a weekend.  it sounds like they had a great time.  while they were gone jess, victoria, and i spent the night at alicia's with all our little girls.  on Saturday we took them to the waterpark in merriville.  it was rather cold so there was hardly anyone there.  it was nice!

-my parents, kenna. and i went to visit my brothers.  we bought and installed new light fixtures throughout the main floor. 

july:

-we spent the fourth at the frye's.  we enjoyed boat rides, delicious food, games, fireworks, and great company. 

-alicia, jess, kristina, and i went to the outlet malls for all their great holiday deals.

-my mom, sister, and i had a garage sale at my grandma's.  we did pretty good.  it felt nice to get rid of some unneeded things and make a little money at the same time.

-we took greyson to his first cubs game.  he enjoyed himself and we had a blast spending one-on-one time with him. 

-we enjoyed a trip to the zoo with our church.  we had a picnic and enjoyed seeing all the animals.  the highlight was the horse rides...greyson loved it.  kenna was too scared to try!

-we hosted aunti zeli, dawit, and zuala from His Little Feet.  it's a choir made of up orphans around the world.  greyson and kenna loved having them here and kept asking long after they had left where the "boys" were.  

-julie, rach, and kids came over for a visit.  the kids were all so shy at first since they hadn't seen each other in a long time, but it wasn't long and they were playing very well together.  love my college friends and wish tara and lish could have joined!

august:

-we went camping with the frye's and hahn's at Chain o' Lakes. on friday, it rained but it cleared up for the rest of the weekend.  we love spending time with these two families!

-of course, august means i've been spending time in my classroom (not as much as i need to!) and summer is coming to an end.  tomorrow, i reenter the working world!

it's been a great summer!
