we have had unusually hot temperatures (hovering around 100 degrees and not cooling off much at night) for the past week and a half or so. the hot temperatures have caused us to stay inside more than we like. we have tried to escape the heat by hitting up the splash pad, going to the lake, running through the sprinkler, and swimming in the pond. nothing feels better than cool water!
on the fourth we went to the frye's for their annual party! there was lots of yummy food, boating, cornhole, and fireworks over the lake. i took my camera, but left the sd card in my computer so i didn't take a single picture. this picture is courtesy of jess (thanks jess, i stole it from your blog!)...what a cute picture of all the kids eating together. it was a great fourth celebration!
the next day we met our friends at the splash pad in waky. greyson and kenna loved the water. it took landon and emerson a little more time to fully enjoy it, but they eventually did! we ate a picnic lunch and tired the kids out. both of mine took great naps when we got home! did you notice poor kenna's eye? it was red and swollen. i'm not sure what happened, but i'm wondering if i got sunscreen in it, because it was fine until i lotioned her up. thankfully it was back to normal the next day!
yesterday we had a sunday school party at our house. we rented an inflatable water slide. i failed to take pics during the actual party (i'm getting lazy on taking pictures!) but later in the evening my parents and brothers came down. greyson went back on it and then kenna decided she wanted to too. i jumped in with her and took her down in our clothes! the water was freezing and the stop at the end was pretty abrupt. it was fun though and all the kids (and some adults) seemed to enjoy it!
this last picture is from a few weeks ago, but i couldn't help but post it. i crack up every time i see it. i have no idea what enticed her to try to climb through the cart, but she got stuck. i of course, let her cry while i ran to get the camera. :) dont' worry, she wasn't hurt or traumatized from this event...she still plays with the cart, although she hasn't tried to climb through it again. :) speaking of climbing, she also has figured out how to get out of her crib. thankfully she has only done it one time and she didn't get hurt. the only way i knew she was out was i heard her playing with some toys. this little girl sure is growing up quickly!
thankfully the temperatures have cooled off for the week ahead...high 80's. should make for another enjoyable week!

It seems like you have been doing great keeping cool!!! Poor Kenna's eye looked so swollen, but that didnt' stop her from having fun!! As ALWAYS it was great having your family over :) You all are such a blessing. See you soon!
You all are pretty smart to hit the water when it gets so hot! It looks like that giant water slide was a lot of fun. And I think that photo of Kenna stuck in the cart is pretty adorable. I'm glad you took a picture before you got her out!! :)
