happy 1st birthday kenna!

kenna turned one year old today.  it's been a wonderful year fun of memories.  i tried to get some pictures of her but a one year old on the move is difficult to capture on camera and she was more about making a piggy face than smiling! :)

i had high hopes of having her smash her cake outside with this banner in the background but i never found a time when dad was home, both kids were awake, and when it wasn't too cold.  so, we had to settle for pictures in the basement. 

kenna has changed a lot in the past few months.  she loves to play patty cake, point at people, and wave bye-bye to people.  she still has a happy demeanor but she has shown her attitude many times.  she knows what she wants and wants it now! :) she loves her mama and has become clingy.  she can be completely happy with someone else, but as soon as i come in she will start to whine until i take her. 

she loves to be outside and doesn't mind the grass.  she puts everything into her mouth though and loves to go towards the pond.  it's going to be a difficult summer because i won't be able to take my eye off her for even a minute. 

she loves her brother and will often go up to him and hug or kiss him, especially if he is laying on the floor.  he doesn't seem to mind at first, but then gets annoyed pretty quickly.  she loves her grandpa and often chooses him over everyone else.

 we've discovered that she has extremely big feet.  she's already wearing a size 5 and we have to get wide shoes for her (which isn't fun...there isn't much to choose from and they are expensive!).  i'm hoping we can find lots of sandals that will fit that aren't wide. she's wearing mostly 18 month clothes and some 24 month clothes. at her one year check up she weighed 24.9 lbs (93rd percentile) and was 30? inches long (she dropped to the 83rd percentile). i however don't know how accurate this measurement is because they didn't even straighten her leg when they measured her.  anyhow, she's growing and she's healthy! :)

she is starting to eat more and more real foods and is now on milk instead of formula.  i still haven't cut out the bottle completely...i just can't do it yet.  ;( she despises the stage three meals but will still eat the fruit and veggies.  she loves freeze dried yogurt. 

 she didn't get as messy as i was hoping but did make a pretty good dent in her cake.  i was glad we did this since we aren't having her party until next weekend.

she kept wanting to get up and walk around.  you can see all the frosting on the floor and between her toes.  at one point she put her foot in her cake.  or maybe i did on accident when i was trying to sit her back down.  :)
 
it has been a wonderful day and a wonderful year. we love you kenna lynne and are excited for many more birthdays to celebrate with you! God is good!
