one of my favorite things to do during the holidays is to look at lights. i've dragged my family to winding brook, around town, to warsaw, we've ventured to find synchronized lights...you name it. i should mention my love of looking at lights isn't shared by most of my family. however, this year i not so subtly hinted that i wanted to go to welfield gardens and john delivered by purchasing tickets. so friday after thanksgiving we decided to go. i loved it. it was so magical. i think some others in my family actually enjoyed it, too.
as people we are drawn to the light. i found myself having a conversation with my students about that this week. what being a light means and how we have the power and potential to be someone others are drawn to. i was met with some blank stares, some nods, and some smiles.
you know, it's funny how sometimes what we say often needs to be what we need to hear. it's not easy always being a light but it's what we are called to be. there's enough darkness in this world. go be a light and don't be afraid to shine brightly!
