we've had a lot of cold temperatures and snow lately. we've missed four days of school so far. as much as i don't want to make up days in june (we're almost there), it has been nice to have random days off to be with the kids! during our first big snow storm, i though ahead and brought home my boots and snow pants. i was glad i did because we got so much snow and had so much fun! john pulled us with the four wheeler.

kenna and i didn't last as long as the boys so we came in and made cookies! she was so proud of herself. note her choice of clothing. she loves wearing her "summer clothes" even when it's freezing out.
i've been going to cardio drumming and one night when i came home, john was asleep on the couch with a pile of stuffed animals on top of him. kenna was singing and playing while he was snoring away. she thought it was hilarious.

i've come to the conclusion that he must be extremely tired from all the cooking that he has been doing! ;) i've been doing the meal planning and making the grocery list and john does the majority of the cooking and shopping. it's been nice and i'm so appreciative of him! we've been trying to eat at home rather than out. we also are eating healthier meals. i did a whole30 (which was really eye opening) and not as difficult as i thought. i have found i like a lot of vegetables that i've never tried before. we are still trying to eat lots of veggies, meat, and some fruits, but i am also eating some dairy and grain as well. i did not follow the reintroduction stage like i should have. i will definitely do another whole30 at some point and be more intentional when i reintroduce foods. i'm currently reading the book called it starts with food and it's very interesting.
i had to throw this picture in. we had a spirit day at school so greyson wore my old baseball jersey from the 90's and i wore an old softball uniform. i'm not sure what year it's from. my softball team raided boxes that were in storage when i was in high school.
we had to venture out during one of the big snow storms to go to a viewing. we had a suburban full so i sat in the back with the kids. i am wedged in there pretty tight between two boosters. :)
we finally switched the boys to big car seats. they adjusted well and it's so much easier than lugging them around in the bucket seats. don't they look SO big!?!
during our last blast of cold air, the kids got a little restless. they took to sword/light saber fighting. graham and easton kept their distance but enjoyed watching these two go at it.
greyson is playing basketball again this year. it's amazing how much he has learned! today, i decided to stay at home because we had another 8:00 game and it's difficult to get everyone around and keep the twins occupied during the game. greyson came home so excited and told me he swished an "almost 3". we enjoyed the family upwards night again this year. we skated, got our face painted, got a balloon animal and hat, ate snow cones, and jumped in the bounce houses. the kids loved it and it was great way to burn off some of that energy!
we've enjoyed winter, but i think we'd all agree we are ready for some warmer weather!

Ok, I absolutely love this post! You definitely have some quality family time going on! The healthy way of eating that you did totally impressed me! Way to go and keep it up!
What fun family times. It's definitely important to keep busy and active when you can't be outside much! I love the pic of John sleeping with those animals. Kenna looks so proud!
